6 september 2012: On the occasion of prof. dr. Bram Buunk ’s farewell as Academy Professor of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences at the University of Groningen, a series of events have been organized under the title MinneNijd: Art meets science
MinneNijd is an old Dutch word for romantic jealousy. Such jealousy is one of the deepest and most overwhelming emotions known to humans. For hundreds of years, numerous painters, writers and poets have been inspired by this emotion and have made it a subject of their work.
Art in MinneNijd is represented by a cd with a South American flavor, produced especially for this occasion by Mike Foendoe. This cd was musically supervised by Junior Martir and contains a number of songs about jealousy in romantic relationships, selected by Bram Buunk and Junior Martir, as well as a number of new tracks.
The cd Celos En El Amor is a collaboration between musicians from a variety of countries, such as Aruba, Curacao, Cuba, Nicaragua and the Netherlands, and one of them is Bram himself. The cover includes an introduction by Bram on the role of romantic jealousy in pop and Latin music.
